Hello from Luxembourg! Luxembourg

I arrived in Arlon, Belgium on June 19, 2013.  Francois picked me up from the train station.  After putting my things away, we went for a short walk around Arlon.  Arlon is a small town that is on the border of Belgium and Luxembourg.  It has 2 churches and we went to one of them which was once an old fortress.  It had a great view of the entire town.  Unfortunately it was the one time I forgot my camera!

On June 20th, Francois and I went to Luxembourg City, Luxembourg via train.  The direct train takes 18 minutes to get from one place to the next.  Luxembourg City is absolutely beautiful!  There is the buildings and feel of a city, but then there is also so much green.  I absolutely loved walking around and exploring this city.  You can definitely see the wealth.  In 2012, Luxembourg was number one in GDP (nominal) per capita.

Luxembourg, Strasbourg, and Brussels are all home to the European Union.  My tour guide in Brussels told me that it costs way too much time and money to send everything to all these locations.  Ideally, the EU would just be centered in Brussels, but as it is about uniting Europe, they have kept it this way to not insult anyone.  The French are incredibly proud to have the EU in Strasbourg.

LUXEMBOURG IS THE 20TH COUNTRY I HAVE BEEN TO IN MY LIFE!

I can't believe it!  What an amazing journey so far and there is still so much more to see.  I just wanted to thank my mom Amporn and my uncle Les for being such great support.  When you have the support of your elders in what you are doing, you really feel amazing and that you can go conquer the world.  They are both so encouraging and it really gives me comfort.  I also wanted to thank all of my friends at home who have been there for me, supporting me.  I don't feel forgotten at all and speak to them all frequently.  I feel so loved and love is all anyone needs!

On June 21st, I walked around Arlon a bit more in the afternoon.  Afterwards, I spent time planning more of my trip.  Sometimes I don't realize what the date is and I have no modes of transportation booked to get from one place to the next...  It is nice to take a day or afternoon off to sort through another few weeks or month of your travels.  I feel like I have my head on straight for another 2 weeks.

Right now I am waiting for my train to Bern, Switzerland where I will meet up with my friend Cherine.  We met in Vietnam and I can't wait to see her again!  Swiss Alps, chocolate, fondue... here I come!
