March Madness

Ever since I got home from the United Kingdom, I have just hit the ground running.  My life has been so busy, but in a good way.  I guess I haven't been this busy in over a year now.  During my full time college days, I used to work 5 different jobs, but I got used to the freedom of traveling and when I first came home in November, it was hard!  It took me going away this last time to appreciate a little bit of stability in my life, at least at this present time.  It is nice to have some routine and get that bank account stimulated again.  Other than working like crazy, here are just a few highlights of this month that I'd love to share!

March 5- My aunt and uncle from Australia were in San Francisco and my mother and I went there to have a visit.  San Francisco is only 2 hours from Sacramento.  Last year I stayed with them in Sydney for a couple weeks before I traveled the east coast of Australia.

March 7- I went to a Girl Scout event called World Thinking Day where my troop was the country Iceland.  It was a really fun experience to see all these kids representing a different nation around the world.

March 12- Bidding for World Cup Tickets at 4 AM was pretty stressful, but we ended up winning a desired match, Portugal vs. Ghana in Brasilia.

March 13- Volunteered at Brides for a Cause, 50% of the profits go towards Wish Upon a Wedding which is a nonprofit wish granting organization providing weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and life-altering circumstances.

March 14- Appeared on Good Day Sacramento, a news program in the capital city, as a wedding dress model to advertise Brides for a Cause.

March 20- Attended The Wailers concert with my long time friend Taylor and it was absolutely amazing!  I am a huge fan of Bob Marley and reggae music.

March 23- Received free Sacramento Kings tickets from the founder of a new charity I am a part of called League of Heroes Inspired.  Took the best friend and we had a lot of fun.  The Kings beat the Bucks!

March 28- Delali and I went to San Francisco to get her visa for Brasil.  I have dual citizenship and don't require a visa when I am using my other passport.  We made a day of it and enjoyed going to Golden Gate National Park, the Japanese Tea Garden and the Palace of Fine Arts.

Spent several days this month enjoying the California sun!

Enjoyed all the days we got rain as well because we are in a major drought in California.

One sad thing that happened this month was that my dad's best friend Billy past away.  He was such a wonderful person and I really cherish my time with him.  He was the first person to really tell me about my dad and his many trips around the world and about the adventures they shared together.  Among many accomplishments, Billy was an expert sailor having done a solo journey across the Pacific Ocean.  I miss you, but I know my dad's happy to have his friend up there.

To anyone having a hard time dealing with a death, I have always found comfort in this poem.  Those we love are always with us.

Death is Nothing at All
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.
Another month begins and every day is a day closer to the World Cup!

The Facebook page is going really well!  I thank all of the people that have been liking it and showing me support!  Click here to have a look and don't be afraid to write me, ask questions or give out suggestions!
