Natal/Brasilia

Delali and I arrived in Natal on June 20th.  My close friend Richard was spending a month there as an English teacher.  We hadn't seen one another in a couple years and I can't think of a better way to reunite than in another country.  Natal is a beautiful beach city and we enjoyed being there a lot.

Food festival on our first night in Natal.

Natal's main attraction is going out on the sand dunes.  Delali, Richard, his colleagues, and I rented 2 dune buggies for a great day in nature.  What an experience!  Our driver was hilarious.  He was blasting music, doing crazy turns in the sand, and just all around enjoyable.  We all had such a great day!

Can't go wrong with a night out while in a party/beach town.

We went here to watch the USA vs. Portugal game.  It was difficult to be around so many USA fans as I am a Portugal supporter.

Morning walk along the beach in the rain.

On June 23rd, we were invited to go to a house party to watch the Brazil vs. Cameroon game.  It was such a fantastic experience!  Completely authentic Brazilian football party in every possible way!  We were even taught to dance some Forró in the street.  Brazilian girls can shake it.  My dancing skills... not so good!  Unfortunately, this was our last night with Richard in Natal, but it was a wonderful few days.  Miss you lots!

When in Brazil, drink like a Brazilian!

On June 24th, we flew to Brasilia, the capital of Brazil.  We were greeted by Aline upon arrival to her apartment.  On our first day, we took the metro to meet Rafael downtown.  This city is very clean, very white, and everything is spaced out.  Be prepared to walk a lot!

Delali and I had tickets to see Portugal vs. Ghana on the 26th and lucky for us Rafael and Aline were able to get tickets too.  The 4 of us went to Estadió Nacional to see the match.  I was rooting for Portugal and the rest of them were in support of Ghana.  Portugal ended up winning but it made no difference as it wasn't enough points to advance.  What a wonderful experience for all of us to do together!

Rafael took all of us to a beautiful house owned by a congressman for an after party.  We met some amazing people and a lot of us ended up going to a disco afterwards.

Wonderful last meal with 2 lovely people.  Thanks for everything!
